What clinical hypnosis is
Clinical hypnosis is a focused, relaxed state of attention, used by a trained health professional as part of a broader treatment plan. It is not stage hypnosis. Most people remain aware of what is happening throughout.
I hold a Graduate Diploma in Hypnosis. Where it suits you, I may use hypnosis alongside evidence-based therapies such as CBT and ACT, as one part of your therapy rather than a treatment on its own.
How it is used
Where it suits you, hypnosis can be woven into sessions alongside the relaxation and focusing skills we are building together. It is gentle and unhurried, always collaborative, and only ever something we do with your agreement. If you would rather not use it, we simply use other approaches.
Is it right for me?
If you are wondering whether hypnosis might help with what you are working on, just ask — I am always happy to talk it through, and we can decide together.
Common questions
Will I lose control under hypnosis?
Clinical hypnosis is a focused, relaxed state, and most people remain aware of what is happening. It is only used with your agreement, and we can stop whenever you ask.
Is this the same as stage hypnosis?
No. Clinical hypnosis is used by a trained health professional as one part of psychological therapy, for your own goals.
Do I have to use hypnosis if I see you?
Not at all. It is an option, not a requirement, and only used where you would like it.
